Gardener Volunteering
We can’t do it without you!
All gardeners are expected to contribute work hours over the course of the gardening season (March-November), with the number of hours based on the size of bed(s) rented. For each 4’x4’ bed rented, 4 work hours are required; for each 4’x8’ bed rented, 8 work hours are required.
What types of task are included? Our volunteers participate in mowing, mulching, weeding common beds and paths, trimming trees, maintaining the compost bins, picking up trash, and watering, as well as helping with planting special projects like our pollinator garden. This volunteer work is primarily done at a scheduled Saturday work day. Gardeners who join our mowing team may volunteer at other times that best fit their schedule.
Once you have rented a garden bed, you’ll receive the spring work day schedule and information about how to sign up for mowing hours. Gardeners who have not contributed any hours by the end of May may forfeit their plot lease.
